Smart List report not aligning with GL Balance in Trial Balance

I needed to see the transactions posted into a particular GL Account based on Site IDs. The Site IDs are inputted in the Description fields. Having spooled the information, the total value of transactions gotten through the Smart List (which provides the report for the GL showing different fields (columns) including the Description Field) is over a 1000 times larger than the balance reported in the Trial Balance for this GL. Please any advice for this problem?
