eConnect Installation - Component Services

Posted on by 4,887

Okay -

I migrated from SQL2000 GP9 to a new server (SQL2008) and upgraded to GP2010.

Upgrade was successfull - GP2010 is working great.

eConnect (just runtime not web services) was running fine on the old server GP90. When I completed the migration to the new server, I installed GP2010 eConnect. The install seemed 'successful'. No errors or anything.........

However, eConnect on the GP2010 install did not make an application entry under component services.

Component Services > Computers > My Computer > COM + Applications

Since eConnect (during installation) didn't make the entry - I'm trying to decide how to fix.......

1. Should I attempt  i.e. can I add application under component services manually?

2. Should I uninstall eConnect and reinstall?

3. I attempted 'repair' this did not correct the issue.

Any guidance would be appreciated.........

eConnect for Dynamics GP 2010 no longer uses COM+ as its foundation. Instead, it uses Windows Communication Foundation (WCF). You will need to go through the eConnect Programmer's Guide that was installed to learn about the details of working with the updated eConnect.
