Set up default dimensions for account types doesn't work.

I have tried for items and for customers.

1. Artikels:

I have a Product-dimension with different values. On Dimension > Accounttype Defaultdimension I selected Table Id 27 Item, and I set Value Posting Mandatory

I excpect that when I create a new item, i cannot leave without adding an "Product" dimension value, but that isn't the case.I can create the item without dimension values

I tried the same for a customer dimension, but here is the same problem

Or has the "default dimensions for account types" another purpose than what I expect?

That is not the purpose of this feature. Default dimensions has two primary values to a user:

1. it will pass data, i.e. a dimension value, to documents or journals where postings take place.

2. it will provide control to ensure specific pieces of master data have certain dimension values or in general dimension values in place before posting.

The feature you require is something different but there are apps on app source which provide it. Search for something like dimension management on app source and you will find them.
