Purchase Orders with Kits or Assemblies

I am new to the Dynamic RMS. I am setting up the inventory and have questions? If we use Assemblies or Kits do all the items show on the purchase order or does just the parent item? Which is better to use if you need to change an item in the process(Sales Order). Can the Sales Order be changed so it list all the items by itemlookupcode and the proper description vs the description being the combined item number. I believe this is on the Kits. Itemlookupcode column is blank and the description is the combined column(new item number& description). I appreciate any help you may have to offer.
