Schedule board - book generic resources

Hi all,

I know that I need to create my “Tasks” plan in PO with Generic Resources first to Generate the Requirements and be able to Book them!

So, in my understanding, I can only proceed this way:

Generic Resources: Only for generating requirements in the schedule board;
Bookable Resources: Only for booking in the Schedule Board!

But, what if I wanted from my Project, with my Generic Resources, to look at my capacity and play with it to see the number of consultants that I will need in my project? Am I able to book Generic Resources at all? Can I customize this, or will it break stuff? Or looking at the Schedule Board would be the only way to assess this information?

Any ideas or workarounds that someone has found in the real world would be appreciated.

Hi Jennifer. Do I get it right that your ask is to see how many hours you need people for on a project / project tasks?

When you set up generics on project tasks, an assignment contour is automatically created. You can see the exact need per role/resource on the Resource Assignments tab. At the moment we can't edit the contours behind that tab but that will change. From the info available behind that tab you can draw conclusions about capacity required.

To get the big picture on an org level and not on a project level you'd need to set up a Power BI report to aggregate the need.
