Upgrade - software deployable package sequence

Hello.

My question is about sequence of deploying software packages in Dynamics 365 for Operations.

For example: I have D365 installation application release 1611 and platorm release Update4 (7.0.4425.16161). I would like to upgrade this to currently the latest version: Platform Update 7. Now I have a few options in "shared asset library" among which I am interested in:
1. Dynamics 365 for Operations Platform Update 7 (658 MB)
2. Platform maintenance package for 1611 release V2 (2 GB)
So do I have to deploy "Platform maintenance package for 1611 release V2" firstly and then PU7? Or PU7 only without 1611 release V2?

if both are application packages, you should not worry about sequence. all you may do is deploy latest update such as Update7 and it will get you all previous application changes. it is not must to put every small update to reach till platform 7

    Thanks Sohaib,

Point 1 is "Platform update" package type

Point 2 is Platform and application binary package

I also prepared another package contains all of binaries, wchich is described as "Platform and application binary package" also. So if I had two steps to update:

    1. "My" binary package as a "Platform and application binary package"

    2. Platform update 7 as a "Platform update" package type

Do you think it will be ok?

that's sounds good to go. only thing I am wondering about is #1.

what does contains your own prepared package?

It is package contains all binary updates shown in monitoring section in LCS.

After deploing this package LCS shows 0 binary updates.

In the view: "Select the software deployable package to apply" this package is described as "Platform and application binary package".

The question is what is the difference between  my package and "Platform maintenance package for 1611 release V2", which is also described as "Platform and application binary package"?

The platform and application binary package, which you download from an environment's "binary update" tile, indeed contains platform and application binaries. Application binaries are things like MR, the SSRS integration components, etc.

So I would encourage you do use that update, and not just the platform update. As you've noticed, your binary update tile will read "0" while if you just update platform the number will decrease but not go down to 0 since there may be updates on MR etc.
