Change company database name

We had an issue where a second company was created with a database name that we would like to change to an original company that is no longer used/has been since deleted, but it won't allow it due to "performance" issues. This really shouldn't be an issue, but we keep finding places where the Company Name (not the display name) is used, for example, in the email subject for invoices, it pulls the company name, and there isn't a way to adjust the subject line without coding. Would it be recommended to just copy the company with the correct name from before? What ramifications would there be (for example, our power automate flows, Power BI reports, etc would need to be updated to the new company).

I have the same question (0)

I guess you mean the company name and not the database name? I don't think the system will pick up the databasename and use that for emails and things like that.

The company name you can change on the company information page. The Company name that is listed in the Companies page can also be changed there. If you do that outside of office hours it should not really give you any performance trouble.

Or are you really talking about the name of the database as it is named on the SQL server?

It is the name of the database as for some reason, that is the name that is pulled into the subject line on emails (I with it would be the Display Name, but it is not). I can change the Display Name, but am unable to change the "Name".

Are you a super user, if so you should be able to put the list in edit mode and just change the name.

I just did the same in a test here.

I do have the "SUPER" Permission set, and when I try it, I get the below error:

I have never seen that before.

What if you try to copy the company to a new company with the correct name?

If that does not work either i would raise a support ticket with Microsoft through my CSP partner.
