Assign Lot Number automatically when PO is received

When we have a reservation against a PO or a Production Order, that reservation converts to a reservation against the Item Ledger once the material is received or output.  Is there a way to automatically assign the lot number that was received or output?

    I don't think BC has that functionality. user needs to manually assign lot no. to received items or output items. If using 3rd party application on scanner, it is possible to auto create tracking no. for items. Still this is not out of box.

    Hi, this is very helpful and something we are discussing implementing, but I realize I was not clear in my original question.  What we want is for the item tracking on the sales order to be updated with the lot no. received or output. In reservation entries, I see the lot number on the item ledger reservation, but it is not automatically input into the item tracking of the SO, which we would like.
