Nav 2016 Administration Shell.

I am running Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 on Windows server 2012 R2 standard.

I have:

1. Dynamics NAV.

2. Dynamics NAV Administration.

3. Dynamics NAV Development Environment.

4. Dynamics NAV Development Shell.

But I do not have the Dynamics NAV Administration shell, which I need to create additional web-client instances.

How do I get the Dynamics NAV 2016 Administration shell? Is there a Microsoft fix for this issue?

Thanks

C

Hi, You can read this blog

    www.kauffmann.nl/.../nav-2016-installation-overwrites-nav-2015-administration-tool

Also I can suggest to use standard Powershell with NAV modules

    Import-Module 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\100\Service\NavAdminTool.ps1'

    Import-Module 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\100\RoleTailored Client\Microsoft.Dynamics.NAV.Model.Tools.psd1'

    Import-Module 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\100\RoleTailored Client\Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Apps.Tools.psd1'

    Hi Dmitry,

    thanks for your quick response.

I have tried importing the modules as suggested but that failed, but worked with:

          import-module 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\90\Service\NavAdminTool.ps1'

I was then able to use the PS command:

New-NAVWebServerInstance -WebServerInstance MyWebApp -Server NAVServer -ServerInstance NAVServerInstance

Which created a new NAV Web Client Application.

    Cheers

    C

    Dmitry,

your the man! so I have another question.

When I know try to access the newly created web-client in a browser I get the error message:

    An error has occurred

A server error has occurred, and the content cannot be displayed. Refresh the page or open a new browser window.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Please note that Before that you need to setup the Web server component on your setup

    and refer the following

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh165851(v=nav.90).aspx

Check what Event Viewer is saying for that. Also, refer to troubleshooting: msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh997105%28v=nav.90%29.aspx;MSPPError=-2147217396

I resolved this issue by changing the port no. in the Web.config file to match the port specified for the instance in NAV Administration  (Client services).
