Significance of 'Ledger updates' screen

When any project transaction is posted, we can see the accounting postings (Debit / Credit) by clicking on the 'View voucher' link. The information provided is sufficient to understand which ledger accounts in the GL are hit as a result of posting the transaction.

If we click on 'Ledger updates' screen, the same result is displayed. What is the significance of 'Ledger updates' screen then, why will someone click on that and to see what additional information which a user cannot get from 'View voucher'?

Also can the information displayed in 'View voucher' and 'Ledger updates' be different in any case?

    Hi,

What can you attach a screenshot of the voucher you see and refer to in your system?

    Many thanks,

    Ludwig

    Hi Sarang,

The Ledger updates form is based on the table ProjTransPosting. It is a table which can be used for dedicated project reporting, without using all ledger transactions. It has some more project specific fields which are not available in the accounting transactions. There should be no difference between the View voucher and the Ledger updates.

    Hi Andre,

Thanks for the response. However can you please shed some more light on this from the functional side, as to why an end user will see 'Ledger updates' after seeing the 'Voucher transactions'.

    Kind Regards

    Sarang

    Hi Sarang Kusare,

I had a look at this issue and noticed the following difference.

The view ledger update form will show you a transaction after it is posted in the project subledger module.

The view voucher form will show you something very similar but only if there is no time lag in the posting of your transaction. That is, if you want then you can post a voucher from a subledger in batch mode to GL (=> there is a GL parameter available for that). If you make use of this batch transfer, the view voucher form might be empty for a while whereas the view ledger update form already shows the transaction.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
