Ability to 'Preview' Security Roles

(0) ShareShare

Hi All -

I've recently stepped into a new role where all the Security/User settings have already been set up.  I'm a visual person and as an Administrator I see everything in MSD.

My question is this - I want to login and get an idea of what exactly the 'Marketing Manager' security role/user looks like in MSD w/out changing my role or creating a 'dummy' user. Does that make sense?  Does anyone know of a way that I can accomplish this?

Thanks!

I've used this method in the past. Of course, it requires knowing the test user's username and password.

    Hello JSalazar ,

You will not be able to experience the Marketing Manager's Security role /User without Changing your role or creating a ' Dummy ' User

However you can see the privileges assigned to Marketing Manager Security role and Assume what it looks like .

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../bb955027.aspx

Or you can login Using the Marketing Manager's credentials . If that is an option

    Thanks and Regards

You need to create yourself a dummy user in active directory (assuming you are using CRM on premise).  Give that user the role you want to test.

Then you can do in private browsing in Internet explorer, go to the crm url.  It will prompt you to put your username and password in.  You put in the details of the dummy user.

You can also do this method

    Deepesh,

I don't see the source code or documentation - appreciate if you could upload the same.

Create a dummy user and give them the required Security Role. Then when you come to test your changes just CTL+Shift+Right Click Internet Explorer shortcut and select "Run as different user" and sign on as your dummy user. No Bat files required :-)
