Post Payroll Checks - Could Not Open File Error

We're on GP2010 SP3 (ver 11.00.2106) and getting a temp file access error when posting payroll checks.

Adding our Payroll Officer to the local admin group and assigning access for everyone to the GP installation folder did not help.  We get this error even when logged into GP as admin.  The only thing that works is to login to the workstation running GP as the domain level admin with open access to everyting.  I'm thinking our Payroll Officer getting this error does not have read/write permissions to some temp folder/file created by GP but not sure where to look.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Just learned our Payroll Officer is on vacation this week and I'm out next week so we'll be tackling this again in two weeks.  Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

In addition to adding this user to the local admin group check the permissions on the root of this drive. Just because you are an admin does not mean you also have all required permissions.

Have you tried granting 'everyone' access to the windows folder?

  • RE: Post Payroll Checks - Could Not Open File Error

Yes, adding the user to the local admin group was the first thing I tried.  No luck.  There is plenty of space on the drive.  Any other suggestions?  Thanks.

In addition to Rich's suggestions above, check the space on the drives and make sure there is enough room for a temp file to be created, used, then dropped.

The ".\" tells me it is trying to write a temp file on the root of your C drive. The user most likely does not have security and/or permission to the root of the drive. So you can make this user a local admin or grant the user full security abd permissions to the root.
