We can attach hyperlink to internal shared folder but cannot open

Hello Friends,

In D365 we can attach hyperlink to internal shared folder using standard document management functionality but on clicking the same link it does not open the shared file.

D365 is hosted on premise.

Understood from colleague that this may work if D365 hosted on Azure but yet to test myself.

Any clue why is that?

    If the hyperlink can be opened in a browser, there should be no difference if you are running D365FO in the cloud or on premises.

    I'm working with the cloud version, but it seems that a link that will work when copy-pasted to a browser will not work when set up as a document reference in D365FO. I find this a bit strange.

    For example these work when copy-pasted to the browser address field:

    file://myshare/myDoc.txt

    file://c:/temp/myDoc.txt

    But when I put it into the attachment in D365FO, it opens a new browser tab with nothing in the address field.

    Internet URLs such as http://www.google.com do work.

    Hi Nikolas,

    We experienced the same behavior.

    If we copy paste the link on a run command, it gets opened.

    Let me know if you find some solution around.
