Can someone please explain to me how this is setup?   I found the accountant portal and installed it.  I see that the client should then send you an invite (provided they have SMTP configured).  Can they set this up without the email invite?  Should they see some sort of accountant license available to assign?

    The process is explained here: docs.microsoft.com/.../finance-invite-external-accountant

    There isn't a way listed to do this without having SMTP setup.  It also discusses the free license that can be used.

    To add to this, you can manually add the Accountant to your environment by going to the https://portal.azure.com/ for your account.  Use AAD and add them as a Guest Account.  Once you do this they will show up in O365 admin portal and you can assign the External Accountant license to them.
