Is it possible to migrate security roles?

We've in the middle of a migration from 2011 to 365.

I'm guessing the answer to this is no.

Is it possible to migrate security roles in a similar way to the way we are migrating data?

We're planning on using Scribe to migrate the data, but if there is another tool that will also migrate security roles I'd love to hear about it.

    Hello Lee,

    I believe it's possible to migrate security roles the similar way because at the end Roles and Privileges is the data as well. On the other hand - how long could it take.

    I don't think you have 100 different roles to migrate so it would be easier to create roles just from scratch.

    Hi,

    I am assuming that you are upgrading from CRM 2011 to D365 Online.

    I would suggest this;

    • Upgrade CRM 2011 on-premise to D365 on-premise
    • Move the security roles within a CRM Solution
    • Migrate data to D365 Online

    Hello Leen-Martin,

    Hope you are doing well.

    This scenario should be able to perfom my using the Data Migration Took from the SDK to export the security roles and then to import them on the newer instance. However, doing such an jump could lead to non working security roles as there were various different versions and updates in the meantime that could lead to the old security roles not working properly on D365 online.
