Can't import data to customerid field

Hi !

On Opportunity form we have both Account (customerid) field and Contact (parentcontactid) visible. Now as I need to update the Account (customerid) field, I would like to export the values to Excel, modify them and then import them back to CRM.

Seems easy enough in theory, but when I actually try to import the values again, the import fails. The explanation for that is: A duplicate lookup reference was found.
Duplicate reference found for transformation output parameter mapped to: Account. Output Parameter Value: OOO

Is there a way to import to this field?

    Hi there!

My suggestion is to pay attention to some automated solutions So, in this way you can forget about manual data export/import. (e.g., data2crm here is official info about this service - appsource.microsoft.com/.../magneticone.crm-data-migration ) Also, the service offers you a free demo import, during this process a limited amount of data on relations will be imported.

So, you can evaluate the outcome result. Thanks, and hope my advice will be useful.

P.S. Full disclosure, I work at data2crm, with respect!

    Hi Vivian.

This is actually a very big problem in the import process and unfortunately you come across a multiple allocation of field names in many environments. It's a fight against windmills.

    Kind regards,

    Karsten

    Hi!

Thank you all for your responses!

Turns out that the reason why I wasn't able to import, was because we had 2 fields with the same name. Although, the other one wasn't on the form, it still mattered.

After changing the name of the other field, I was able to import. :)

    Hi Vivian

That usually means that there are multiple versions of the record you are trying to look up - Are the accounts / contacts in there twice? possibly deactivated?

    Hi Vivian,

simplest way is after you have exported the data - you convert the .xls file to csv - you can do this by "save as" option in the excel.

one you have csv - try importing in crm - it will give you all the option.

    Hi!

As i am also exporting data from CRM to Excel, then it doesn't give me that chance to map data, when importing. It does it automatically and that is why it is giving an error. Any way i could manually map them?

    Hi Rawish!

I didn't get any chance to map any data. I just uploaded the file and then the import wizard did the rest. Is there a place where i can check that?

    Hi Vivian,

When importing it back did you select Account(Primary key) field In import wizard in front of account mapping.
