New advanced rule structure not working

Hi Community!

I created a new advanced rule structure in the system and added the dimension value combinations to it so that system could use it to validate the ledger account string in the general journal however seems like the system is not picking up the new advanced rule structure as it gives an error that it is not a valid combination further it uses the first advanced rule structure to validate the combination and doesn't regard the second advanced rule attached to the account structure. What setup am I missing?

This is the new advanced rule structure. Cost center 14374 is added. Advanced rule structure is activated.

Then I attached this advanced rule structure to the balance sheet account structure and activated it. The balance sheet now has two advanced rule structures attached. Both have the same number and order of segments. The new advanced rule structure is created to keep new cost centers. As you can see rules will always be applied since there is no criteria defined.

The main account is a balance sheet main account and must be validated with both advanced rule structures, ACC_String and ACC_String 2

Hi Muhammad,

Did you create the journal before or after the new advanced rule structure was active?

Note: The first screenshot is really small and I cannot read the error. Can you possibly make a new screenprint and/or share the error message?

Can you also let us know what D365FO version you operate?

Hi Ramit, as per my understanding criteria is optional and the business requirement is that advanced rule structure should always be applied. That's why we don't use the criteria. Please note the first advanced rule structure has more than 1000 entries and they're working fine. The issue is only with the new avs.

Hi Muhammad,

Something seems strange here:

Your main account 11635 can be found in the second position of your accounting string.

While the cost center is in the first place.

From your previous screenprints I cannot identify a reference to main account no 11635.

Can you check how this linkage is made in your account structures / advanced rules?

Also, can you possibly put the main account in the first place.

1. Any specific reson you have kept "Main Account" after cost center? Can you make it at first place and check?

2. Also, can define criteria with GL code range and check

Hi Mohammad,

Can you verify if the structures really did get activated? When you click the activate button, a batch job is used in the background and does not provide feedback if the activation did succeed or not.

Hi Ludwig,

Yes cost center comes first and then the main account as this is how GL is setup given that it is a cost center driven business. Cost center and main account are linked through the account structure then advanced rule structures define valid dimension combinations which must always be applied that's why no criteria has been defined

Please note we're adding a new advanced rule structure (AVS) to resolve an underlying issue. Nature of the business requires us to add cost centers from time to time. For each cost center there is a unique dimension combination which needs to be validated on journal entries. The existing AVS "ACC String" has now more than 2000 entries. When user adds a new cost center and clicks on activate, it takes around 30-40 mins for the activation batch to complete. This means during this time no one can enter journal entries as the system couldn't even validate existing combinations and goes haywire (we don't know why as it shouldn't). As soon as the job completes, system goes back to normal and successfully validates new and old combinations.

What we're aiming to do is to add a new AVS and then add combinations to that rule because activating the new AVS takes just seconds to complete, therefore reducing the affect on the business to enter and validate journals. I hope it makes sense now.
