UPGRADE PROCESS FROM VERSION 7.5 MSDE TO GP2016 R2

We are beginning the upgrade process from an old version of Great Plains (Version 7.50g3 / SQL Server MSDE). Can anyone direct us to information of where to begin? Our understanding is...the first step is we upgrade to Version 9. We have downloaded version 9 (cd 1 and cd2). Can anyone tell us where we download the conversion tools and instructions on how to upgrade from this 7.5 version to version 9.0. Thank you for any direction or help you can offer us.

Richard provided a pretty good version path when you come that far back from an older GP version.

This may help you get more details about the process :

Though it was published at the time for 2015, this is still valid for 2016R2 as well, and this blog post series is going to be helpful too : https://community.dynamics.com/gp/b/dynamicsgp/archive/2016/03/07/microsoft-dynamics-gp-2016-upgrade-blog-series-schedule

RE: UPGRADE PROCESS FROM VERSION 7.5 MSDE TO GP2016 R2

I have done many of these and keep three images in place just for this purpose. Each image has a separate version of the OS and SQL and the jumps are GP 7.5 to 9, GP 9 to GP 2010, GP 2010 to GP 2015 and finally GP 2015 to GP 2016 R2. If you have the media for each you will have the instructions for each upgrade as well. You need to upgrade your modified forms and reports along the way. You can muddle through on your own as long as you have a test environment but normally I get these down over a weekend. I have the final environment already built and waiting for the data so in the end all I do is deliver the data the night before. I have even taken companies from the old Pervasive.SQL version of GP using this process.
