Date Format in Management Reporter Excel Export

(0) ShareShare

I have several spreadsheets that are linked to the P&L spreadsheet exported from Management Reporter.  I have always "parsed" the beginning and ending dates using excel's MID function, (since it is exported as a string), in the cells in order to do calculation of # of weeks between dates, etc.  In FRx, the date was always exported with the same number of digits regardless of the number of actual digits, ie, 01/01/2015 is the same length as 10/10/2015.  Management Reporter changes the date to 1/1/2015 which makes all of the date calculations error out.  Is there a way to force the date to be formatted with the full digits, same as FRx used to do?

Just a quick question - is the workstation that is generating the FRx reports and import to Excel the same one that is being used to both generate and import the MR reports?

If not, then the difference may be in the Regional Settings for the dates of the two workstations.

This is a quick reading and reply for a Friday afternoon.  Let me know if this helps in anyway.

    Don,

Have you tried changing the Regional Settings on the server Management Reporter is deployed on? I have seen a similar problem with long data formats, which include the day of the week requiring a change at the server.

Harry, that was the next part of the solution of course - to find out if the Regional Setting on server was different than that of the workstation.

I find the setting questions are often the weird ones.

    Anyway, hope this helps.

That was the answer.  It took me awhile to find the regional and language settings.  I had no idea it was in the windows control panel.  I was looking everywhere in MR.  Once I found it though, changed it and re-ran my reports.  Works!  I was having to redo the formulas in the spreadsheets every time the number of digits changed in the month or day.  Thanks
