Language Code Customer Card vs. Document Language

Posted on by 30

Hi,

I have  a customer card where the language code ist set to  FRB.  I have a Sales order for this Customer  and when i try to print the Confirmation, the Document is in English. There is no Document Layout set up for this customer.

May i know why does it print in English?

Language Code Customer Card vs. Document Language
Sometimes I wonder why I even learn languages in the first place. There are so many automated tools now, different translators that can do everything in a second. And at the same time I sit in promova app and learn words that I forget every now and then. But I am still convinced that learning languages is very important, and will definitely come in handy in life. At least, it will be a good training for my brain. Do you learn any languages? Not for work, but for personal reasons.

    Hello Inge,

Thank you for your reply.  Sorry that i have to bother u again with a few more queries.

I am on BC Online and not on prem.

When i login in FRB ( French - Belgium) the  Sales order gets printed in FRB without any issues. I Suppose this means that the labels in the document  are maintained in the translation file in FRB which is not accesible in UI.  The  customer card  lanugage code is set to FRB

I have successfully installed the Language extension for FRB  from the  extension marketplace.

Now i change the language to English and i also tried logging in  German.

The document gets printed in EN  and then logged in  in german the document gets printed DE  respectively.

It confuses me from where exactly the translations are taken over.

    Best regards,

    sonia

Your local language are defined by what country that was picked when your environment was created. Assuming you are in Business Central online you can check that in the Business Central admin center.

If you are on prem language is defined from what language version you used for the installation.  If you are able to get the German language, you probably are in a German version.

Translation of item descriptions and so on can be done in from the item card. Where you have translation as one of the menu items.

Translation of labels in the document are done in a specific translation file that is not accessible from you UI.

What does it mean by local language and how do i know where is it setup? i am logged in as a EN user.  For a customer where DE is set up the sales order gets printed in DE. Why is that?

May i know where can i set up the language translation so that the document is printed in FRB? Funnily i have another customer card where the language is set up in DE and the document  prints in DE.

The standard reports in Business Central is usually delivered in your local language and in English.

If you are in BC online. You can install the french language pack from here:

    appsource.microsoft.com/.../pubid.microsoftdynsmb|aid.frenchfrancelanguageforbc|pappid.c75a45c6-4e83-46e1-b17b-48c6506c19f3

If the document does not have language translations, then you will see the default caption.
