Quick Search is limiting the result set to only 80 records?

My understanding is that Quick Search should show either 10000 or 50000 records (depending on the limit system setting.)

I have 100X Contacts for a particular company.

If i search on that company name, the list of contacts is alphabetical but only goes up to "P" ie all the contacts "Q-Z" are missing and i know there are some.

Is the quick search form customizable?

Have checked that they are all active (and they are) and that search fields in use - but i am just looking at the company name...

    Hi Mike,

Yes the quick find is configurable. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics/crm-customer-center/edit-the-quick-find-view.aspx

It can be confusing as people sometimes think they are searching the current view but quick find searches based on its own filter

    Hi Mike

Using the system Quick search (i presume you mean Global Search)  it will only bring back the first 80 results for each entity, This is system design (i think there is a recommendation on the CRM Ideas for increasing this)

    Hello MikeKolling,

Yes you can edit Quick search.

    • Go to settings-> customizations -> customize the system
    • Click on entities. Choose the entity.
    • Click on views

    • Click on the row with the "Type" column as "Quick Find View"
    • A new window appears. Here you can add new columns, edit search criteria (i.e customize the quick search view)

And for the scenario you had mentioned , all the records would have been displayed if they were active records. Do check with the following :
    • Check whether all the records are active. (Quick find works only for active records. Otherwise i.e for inactive records, you should go for Advance Find option)
    • Check whether you had opted the "Company name" column in the "Add find column" option in the above form.

It should have worked for the above two cases.
If it still does'nt work  try editing the  "Edit Filter Criteria" in the above form as :

    • " status equals active "    GROUP AND  "  'the field you require' (i.e contacts)  contains data "
    •  Also add the ' the field you require' (i.e contacts) to the "Add Find Column" option in the above form.

Hope this helps you. Thank you :)

    Hi MikeKolling,

We can customize the columns/fields you search in quick find. By doing so, we can add the field company name to 'Find Columns' and contacts having a particular company name can be searched.

Refer the link for adding the field Company Name to search column.

    Thanks
