Management Reporter - Cant connect to the Management Reporter Server.

I just started getting an error when I open Microsoft Reporter that says it cannot connect to the Management Reporter Server. The only thing I can think of is that we changed our password to access the server. Is this part of the problem? How can we change is in Management Reporter?

In Report Designer, go to Tools > Connection

This should point to your MR server.  If it is not pointing to the correct server, you can just change it there & click Test Connection to see if you pointed it to the correct server.  You may need your GP Admin or someone from IT to assist if you don't know the specifics.

It should be http://[YourMRServerName]:4712/  without the []

So an example would be http://MyMRServer:4712/

It is point to the right server. I also cant go anywhere. I can either click cancel and it closes or test the connection, get the same error and close the program. I think some thing must need to happen on the back end?

We tried reverting our server password back to the original and it did not fix it.

In the MR Config Console, check if the Application Service & the Process Services are running.  It is okay to Stop & Restart even if they say they are running just to be sure.

Then check the Data Mart Integration log to verify that there are current integrations.

Changing the server password back to the previous password worked. Does anyone know if there is a way to update the password Report Manager uses to access the server or are we unable to change our server password?

Exactly what sql password did you change? the 'sa' password or the passwords for the services running SQL?

Worse comes to worse, you can export the building blocks, completely uninstall MR, change whatever passwords you want changed and then reinstall MR and import the building blocks

Did you also update the new password on Management reporter application and process services, and restart the services?
