Multi company environment

Hi,

With multiple companies, is there a way to have one shared chart of accounts and a shared list of vendors among multiple companies?

Also, is there an easy way to flip from company to company rather that going to cog>>My settings and chose the company?

Thank you,

Oleg.

I have the same question (0)

Unfortunately No you cannot share but could add a customization to move the accounts created in one company to another or modifications that way all the companies are in Sync.

I don't believe there is any other way to flip the company.

    Oleg,

This is a large request from customers with multiple companies. The solution that works for me is Binary Stream MEM. Here is a link:

    www.binarystream.com/.../

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Oleg

you can use power automate to replicate any new account , customer, vendor across all companies.

Also users can use company center to switch from company to another without going to settings

    thanks

Tagging onto Ola’s suggestion I did a webinar about this very topic. I’d skip ahead in the video to about the 27mins and on: https://youtu.be/kXRYKHZdpj4

Steve’s suggestion is also decent but it’s 1 company using one of the global dimensions to drive things. Works very well for franchise businesses especially. It does of course come with an additional subscription fee to your current BC license.

    Thank you Steve,

I'm familiar with MEM. We are entertaining this option.

    Best,

    Oleg.

coming from GP,  I'm also familiar with MEM and its a very stable good product. The only thing I don't like about it with BC is that it reserves one of the global dimensions for the company identifier, which makes reporting a bit complicated if you need multiple reporting dimensions. it also makes me think, what if you just used that dimension to represent the company and did some value level security. wont it be almost the same as MEM for BC?

    Good thought, Ola.

That would need to be tested, not only for data entry but also for all related reporting, including 1099, Aged Payables, Trial Balance, etc. I'm thinking a lot can be accomplished with filters. There is also a thought how to keep the data separated by company, since they may be different tax ids.

Along with MEM we are also entertaining Prospero, which is financial reporting tool, similar to MR. This will allow flexible reporting.

    Thank you,

    Oleg.
