How to create links to entities without GUIDs

We have an on-premise Dynamics CRM 2011 system and we also have web applications on different servers.

Some of our entites are in both systems, and they share the same ID field.

From the external application (Silverlight) i would like to create links to entity views in CRM using a common ID field we have in CRM and the external system.  However, i can't seem to do this without first creating a server-side web service to query entities to get their GUIDs which are needed for direct links to entity views.

Is there an easy way to create these links (i.e. a link to an entity query which results in a single entity view, or a link to a query which results in a list in CRM), preferably with little or no .NET code?

I don't think you'll be able to achieve a link to a record without the unique id as the basis for URL is that GUID.

You can have a look at this page regarding creating URLs in CRM - maybe you can use this info to open a link to a view that might give you something close to what you need.

Open Forms, Views, Dialogs and Reports with a URL

You can make a HTML web resource that handles resolving the GUID based on your common ID that can be passed as data parameter to the web resource (msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg327945.aspx)

After resolving the GUID the resource can parse and open the URL as Jason wrote above.

This way you don't need calls to CRM service interface in your custom application. However you still need to use resolve the actual GUID, but it can be done by using the REST endpoint in the web resource.
