Using Automated Sequences to Update the "Status Reason" Field

Hi,

I have updated the selectable options for a Lead "Status Reason" and am now am wanting to have this status automatically update based on certain actions occurring with that Lead.

My first thought is to have this done by the automated sequence Command - Update Field - Status Reason. however, it does not appear under the updatable fields list.
Is there a way I can edit the Status Reason Field that would allow it to be modified by a sequence?

If not... does anyone have any other suggestions on how I could have this Field keep up to date without having to do it manually?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

What do you want to update this field based on.

If this field is updated based on other field changes, you can use the Business Rule.

Or the workflow and power automate can also automatically update fields.

Hello! It sounds like you're working with a CRM system and are trying to automate updates to a Lead's Status Reason field based on certain actions. Unfortunately, some CRM systems have limitations on which fields can be updated through automation, and it sounds like the Status Reason field may not be one of them.

One alternative solution could be to use a workflow rule or a process builder to update the Status Reason field based on certain criteria being met. These tools allow you to set up specific conditions and actions that trigger updates to records, including the Status Reason field.

Another option could be to use a custom field instead of the Status Reason field, which would allow you to update it through automation. You could then use a formula field or a validation rule to ensure that the custom field always reflects the correct status based on the Status Reason field.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Hi Shawnsauve ,

I tried using a custom field but it still doesn't show in the Sequence step "Update Field" dropdown. Is there a setting that needs to be enabled to allow the field to be updated by a sequence?

    Thank you

So I figured out the answer to why my custom field wasn't showing (It has to be an option set).

Apparently "Status Reason" is a Status Reason Option Set?

I now have a Custom field updating status reason, however, I would like the original status reason to still accurately show the status.

How can I create a workflow that will automatically update "Status Reason" when the custom field is changed?
