Dynamics CRM 2013 Date Picker issue - Windows 2008 R2 SP1/IE8

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 105

I'm running Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online Fall '13 (6.0.1.462) over Internet Explorer 8 in Windows 2008 R2 SP1. When I attempt to use the Date Picker control in the "Advanced Find" function, I'm unable to choose the date.  I can enter a date manually, however.

Note that I've been able to reproduce the problem using Compatibility Mode, and in both x86 and x64 versions of IE.  I've also downloaded and registered the MS common ActiveX controls (mscomct2.ocx, MSCOMCTL.OCX) in both \System32 and \SysWOW64.  I'm unable to reproduce the issue in Google Chrome.

Steps to reproduce the problem:

  1. From the Dynamics CRM home page, select "Advanced Find"
  2. From the "Saved View" drop-down list, select a report with a date field (e.g., "Account Report Action Items").
  3. Select the date period drop-down list (default is set to "Last X Days") and select "On."
  4. Select the calendar drop-down next to "Choose Date."

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

I am using IE 9 and it is working perfectly fine. Can you please check if you are getting same issue in IE9?

Thank you for the suggestion, Pramrod.

Unfortunately, I'm in a corporate environment and IE9 isn't an option.  In addition, I'm unable to reproduce the issue (that is, everything runs as expected) when using IE8 in Windows 2003 R2.

I discovered the root cause of my issue and have resolved it - it was an Internet Explorer GPO that was a little too restrictive.  If anyone viewing this post wants to know the specific GPOs and settings that I changed, please let me know.

Pramod, thanks again for the suggestion.

What are the steps need to be followed to resolve the issue?

    Your response appreciated.

I've attached the Group Policy here for your reference.  Note that items marked "Deleted" in bold were removed to protect the privacy of my organization.

The specific policy objects in question were all under "Windows Components/Internet Explorer/Internet Control Panel/Security Page/Trusted Sites Zone."  This assumes that you've added the site (likely *.crm.dynamics.microsoft.com) to your Trusted Sites GPO.

Oh wow - that came out looking really terrible.  OK, the specific policy objects that I changed (again, under Windows Components/Internet Explorer/Internet Control Panel/Security Page/Trusted Sites Zone, and assuming that the site in question is in Trusted Sites) are as follows:

    Allow Active Scripting

Allow scripting of Internet Explorer web browser control

    Allow Scriptlets

    Display Mixed Content

Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe

Set all the above to "Enable."

    Hi AriB

I have the same issue, what did you change in the GPO, Active X setting or??

    Any response will be appritiated.

    Thank you

    Janick

Janick, I changed the settings noted in my April 3 posts, above.  The changes were made to Trusted Sites Zone policies, with *.crm.dynamics.microsoft.com added to Trusted Sites as part of the same GPO.
