Is there a way to rename old payroll departments and/or employee classes that are not being use?  Like add a z in front of them?

    GP2018 have a department renaming tool. 

    For class ID and department (before GP2018), I do not recommend that you change them via SQL, however, I have done that before after extensive testing.
