Generate the next number from "Manual" number sequence

Hello,

Does anybody has experience to generate the next number from number sequence which is set as "Manual".

I'm using this approach: https://community.dynamics.com/365/financeandoperations/b/axaptavsme/posts/generate-next-number-sequence-by-x-code

But, it returns empty number if number sequence is Manual.

We need it to be manual, but at the same time, we have some csv upload process, during which the number must be generated from number sequence.

Thanks.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

Manul number sequence is as good as not having a number sequence. so you will not get the next number if it is set to Manual.

As suggested by Nikolaos, you can set up a new number sequence which is automatic and use that.

Another approach might be to update the current number sequence to automatic from Manual, then import and set it back to Manual again using code. I have not tried it myself but you can think about it.

Thanks for suggestion. In that case we would need also a parameter field pointed to the new number sequence to select it from the code right?

Just define a number sequence which is not linked to the id / data type of your table field. And set it to automatic. This way you can fetch numbers from that sequence in code, but it doesn't impact the process where users create records in this table.
