Splitting plan order before order date does not update BOM quantities

Hi,

Scenario:

I am currently very new to Dynamics AX and just need to understand something related to planned orders. I created a planned order for a BOM as shown below.

When I split the plan order to a date before the order date of original plan order, 3 new plan orders are created and the original plan order is updated with remaining quantity as shown below.

Question:

1. Why item-0009 and item-0010 plan orders were not split and their original plan orders updated to remaining quantity? It seems like extra quantities of item-0009 and item-0010 will be produced and purchased in this scenario. Any help in this regard will be appreciated.
