Larger than operator for a text field in Advanced Find filter

Hello,

I need to create a filter in Advanced Find on a single line text field such as employeeID (a single text field), which use the operator larger than. But I don't see any comparison operators available. Is there any work around to resolve this?

Thanks in advance,

Hao

    Hi Hao Tian,

    Yes..

It will not apply to a single line of text, you need a numbering, countable ones, like whole number (integer).

Since they are not a really number even though you put ID:

    ID 1 = 12341234

    ID 2 = 12341235

    ID 3 = 12341236

    ID 4 = 12341237

    ID 5 = 12341238

It will still possible to have A12341234 right, like passport number got Letter + number.

So this field type, the single line of text is not a numbering field.

    So these are workarounds:

    1. If possible if you want to get all employee with ID "is greater or larger than 1234" you can use contains 1234, begin with..

But this is only applicable if only you have a structured and ordered numbering. You cannot just say more than 1000

You need to have the specific prefix.

    2. Export the all result then use Excel to find it. Well using Excel you can manipulate many things, you can convert it to numbering

    3. Create a field and copy the value, updating using programmatically method or excel import wizard might be possible.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

    Thanks Aileen,

our employee ID is in the format LLLD (three letters followed by a digit), and there are more then 20,000 records in Contact entity. So the export to excel won't work because we cannot change anything on the SQL server side.

It seems that I'll have to run a Scribe DTS to export the data.

    Thanks again,

    Hao
