Hi,
We are new with Dynamics 365, having migrated from on-prem 2011 to Dynamics 365 this past Spring. There is a condition that has happened twice already where the ActivityPointerBase just about doubles for no apparent reason. Every time it happens, I have opened a support case and it takes them, the first time took almost 2 months, the second time took 3 weeks, which is worrying since there is a recorded history of the case and what was done to resolve it. I never got a straight answer as to what exactly happened beyond a large growth in the indexes. In order to resolve it, the MS development team got involved and ran a script that dealt with that bloat. Again no clear indication as to what exactly this script does other than it can only be executed by the development team. I have attached a screenshot so you can see how much it has grown.
Have any of you experienced this behaviour? What have you done?
Hi Partner,
Can you click Yes under "Did this answer your question?" to close this thread if my answer is helpful.
Thanks in advance!:)
Hi EmanuelM,
Usually, the biggest table tend to be ActivityPointerBase.
The ActivityPointerBase table stores any activity or task that is performed by a user in Dynamics 365 CRM.
There are different types of activities that can be created whose links are stored in this table, along with the user and/or team associated to that activity, which is stored in ActivityPartyBase table. As such, when attempting to reduce the consumption of ActivityPointerBase, the consumption of ActivityPartyBase will also be reduced.
Carolina has shared one guide about ActivityPointerBase, so you can refer it to know more details and how to reduce it:
