Unposted Reversing Entry not Showing in Management Reporter

Posted on by

I can't find anything documented about this, but has anyone been able to resolve the fact that when you have an uposted reversing entry saved in GP, the first entry shows in MR, but the reversal does not?  I am running the report with unposted activity AND running the report through a period that is passed the date of the reversal.  Any ideas, a bug or is it supposed to work this way.  This is on CU7.

I'm with you Melissa, this functionality should be included from a logical standpoint, but it seems clear that it's not currently possible.

    Hi Melissa,

I agree with Soma and Harry, this is the standard behaviour of GP the reversing cant be seen until you post the original journal.

Soma is correct on the functionality being standard. This doesn't mean this functionality could not be improved. GP has all the information necessary to show the correct provisional values if both the GL10001 and GL10000 tables are taken into account.

    Melissa,

While creating a journal entry with the type of reversing you need to post the JV. After you posted the JV, GP will create a reversing distribution line with using same JV number.

If you save the journal entry, it will just record the original distribution lines only, not the reversing lines.

Go to Smartlist and check the particular JV in account transaction under the finance module. It will show you only the original line for saved reversing JV and you can see the reversing distribution for only posted JV.

This is the standard behaviour in GP. If the reversing distribution lines are available saved JV in GP, definitely you can see the entries in MR as well.

    Hope this helps!!!

I understand you have to include unposted transactions, which we are.  However only the original shows in the report not the reversal.  Both are unposted, so why does only the first part show up.

Melissa, are you using Provisional - Unposted / Posted in the building block for the report?

If not, you might try this.

Otherwise, I am on Babu's side, if not posted, it would not appear in many reports.

    Let us know.

    Hi Melissa,

the reversal is not yet affected since the batch is not posted.  So the first entry will show when you include the unposted financial in MR.
