Using RD Web on 2012 server to publish GP getting dexterity runtime access error

Hi there.  Hopefully what I post here makes sense and I don't know if I'm putting the question in the correct area.

I have a 2012 server running dynamics gp 2013.  I have created RD web apps and am accessing GP through our web app webpage.  When I go to the website https://server.mydomain.com/rdweb I am able to see the app I publish.  Then I click on the app and it asks me to login.  I login with administrator and it go right into GP without issue.  When I login with a different user (that user has RD access as well as is in administrator group), I get a Dexterity Runtime dialog box with the error of "you dont have permissions to open this file.  I have created the collection and have added users in the security of the collection as well as the published app.  I'm not sure where else to look because I'm not sure how many people are using published apps with GP13 and a 2012 server.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Ken Wilson

    Hi Ken,

Create a process monitor log on the RD server then recreate the error. You can save the file as an Excel file and under the Results column filter to only show Access Denied. This will show the Window permissions that is having the issue.

Hi Ken I don't have an answer for you but wondered if you would tell me how you were able to include the dynamics.set file when you published GP?

You have to open the file location of the shortcut I believe and give users full permissions.  Like JD2 I would also like to know how you were able to include the dynamics.set file when you published the app.  When I launch GP I just get a gray Dexterity Runtime box.  I don't even get a login box.

I am having DNS problems on my Remote Application server right now but when you deploy the remote app you just need to use the same path that is same as a regular GP Icon. You have to make sure you have the Dynamics.exe and Dynamics.set file. This isn't what I used (I can't access it right now) but here is the path for the shortcut I have:

    "C:\program files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP2010\Dynamics.exe" Dynamics.set

    Hi Jonathan,

How did you get the shortcut setup like that?

I too have only been able to get the dexterity runtime window, where I can then Launch the .set file. It sounds like you folks are able to click the icon from the RD Web Access\Work Resources page and are then prompted to login to GP.

When I publish the app i tried to setup the shortcut as you have above, however it only allows me to choose the dynamics.exe and I cannot add anything after that.

    Thanks.

This is most definitely a permissions issue on the RDS server.

We create a GP Users group and give them full control to the GP folder on the RDS server.

For anyone getting the Dexterity Runtime Window asking for a startup file in RDS, please add the "Dynamics.set" file in the parameters field for always run this command line parameter.

    Hope this helps

You publish the APP first then right-click the APP in REMOTEAPP PROGRAMS and edit properties, click Parameters, click Always use the following command-line parameters:  Dynamics.set <Click OK> and Test. It should be working after that.

    Ken,

That error sounds like it is on a shared reports.dic file.  Ensure the user has rights to the shared file.

You can test this by having the user log into a full desktop and running GP from the start menu.  If you get the same error it is a shared file issue.
