Planning for family product

Dears,
 
i know the best way to use co product by making a category for items which is produced to gather by one material just like cutting wood or metals my qusetion is can i use a family product in planning based on sales order cause the type in SO would be items.
your prompt response is truly appreciated.

    Hi, If you mean Family, as far as I know it is not possible. This is a group of individual items, can only be used on Production Order.
