How make CRM 2011 Email router SMTP User specified

Hi.

We configured our CRM 2011 to work with gmail. All is working fine, except one thing- we are not able to configure outgoing mail to be "user specified".

The problem is, that under "Other specified" all the emails are going from the name info@....ru. What we want to do, is to send every email from the name of the person, who is specified in the "From" field of the email.

Is it possible to do? How to do that ?

P.S. Outgoing emails and their tracking is working fine, because for POP3 you can specify Access Credentials as "User specified". For SMTP it is not posible, because the field is disabled... Really strange thing...

Thanks,
Vahagn

    Vahagn,

You can configure the Email Router to send the emails itself without going through gmail...would that suffice?

Hi, thanks for the answer. One more question please.

If I`ll configure my server to work as an SMTP server, what domain name will be used in the email address ? Can set domain name manually ?

    Thanks,

    Vahagn

    Vahagn,

That is the best part about it, the Email Router forwards the emails from any domain without asking questions! :)

Whichever email address is configured for the user will be the one sending the email out.

    Makes sense?

Thanks, that is what we need.

To be honest, it is strange.

That means, that I can send emails from any company name (even Microsoft), which is a some type of security issue. I thought Microsoft products will not allow such a things...

Your windows(AD) password must be the same as you email one, or you can send emails without entering your real email password (gmail of my example) ? The emails will not go to the spam folder of the receiver ?

    Thanks,
    Vahagn

I think that depends on the junk mail settings of the receiver.

Here at Zero2Ten we use this configuration and all the emails that leave CRM are routed through our email router.

We have never received complaints about emails going to the junk email folder.

Gus, how do I set up a virtual server on IIS 7.0?  I don't see a virtual server in that configuration.

    Hi Gus,

The link provided throws back an error. Can you kindly verify?

    Thanks!
