Setting up AX Databases with a new AOS Service User

I recently received AX databases from another system/setup. I've restored the databases in SQL and now I need to configure them to allow my AD User that runs my AOS Service. I have seen some information out there about using the Grant-AosDatabasePermissions.sql. Where is this script located and can I just inject my AOS Service user into the right tables?

RE: Setting up AX Databases with a new AOS Service User

    Hi Zachary,

I don't have a script on hand, but the steps involved to get the new setup running should be:

    - Grant your the AOS service AD user proper access right to the AX database and the AX Model database (dbreader, dbwriter, ddladmin)

    - In the AX database, update the Admin user record in UserInfo table. Change the NETWORKDOMAIN, NETWORKALIAS and SID field to match the AD user who would be the Admin of AX.

The above will allow you to run the AOS against the new DB, and login with the Admin user.

For more detailed description, and instructions on additional steps that may required to setup additional components, see blogs.msdn.com/.../moving-between-microsoft-dynamics-ax-2012-environments.aspx

    Kind regards,

    Dominic Lee

RE: Setting up AX Databases with a new AOS Service User

I found the script in the White Paper to run in PS. Before running the script I had to make my user deploying the script a accessadmin to the databases and add it to the security admin role in SQL. The script is:

    Grant-AXModelStore -aosaccount %account% -Server "$SourceDataBaseServer" -Database:"$SourceModelDataBaseName"

Then I needed to reinitialize the modelstore schema using:

    Initialize-AXModelStore -database %modeldb%

Now I didn't modify the AX ADMIN right away, Instead I used a domain\user that I new was already registered as an admin in the AX database (Shift-Rightclick, log in as different user).

I'll modify the SID, NA, and ND for security and backup purposes so my ruling ADMIN matches.

    Regards
