Dear Expert,

I use Microsoft Dynamic AX 2012 with Kernel and Application Version of AOS is 6.0.1108.4316

After windows 10 latest update on client PC, Office 2016 has a problem to open because office ad in

When I check on AX client PC, the Kernel Version update to 6.0.1108.4556 but Application Version stay on 6.0.1108.4316

Is there any recommendation to solved this issue?

Hi Bintang,

Version 6.0 (initial AX2012) is not supported anymore by Microsoft. So, it is unlikely that there will be an update to fix this. You can upgrade to AX2012R3 with the latest CU or upgrade to the new cloud based Dynamics 365. These versions are supported.

To be sure if it is AX related, can you also tell what error messages you get?

No error message, Microsoft Office can't be open and stuck on loading plugin / add ins

Do you know how to downgrade kernel version to 6.0.1108.4316?

Hi Bintang,

There is also nothing mentioned on LCS except a hotfix for Switzerland in regards to Windows 10.

If you don't have the time and money for the upgrade, can't you 'downgrade' the Windows 10 version to the previous version.

If only a single PC is affected going back to the previous Windows version might the easiest way to get this issue fixed.

In the longer term, upgrade AX2012 as Andre mentioned.

Hi Bintang,

A new implementation is not required when you upgrade to AX 2012 R3. However, it will require code merging if you have customizations and a database upgrade task.

It is possible to remove the last update from the Windows Add/Remove programs or features, however, this will also require a change in a certain table of the database as it will otherwise giving an error that you are not using the correct kernel version. It is too long ago for me to know the exact table, record and value.

Upgrading to Dynamics 365 is also possible without new implementation, but if you want to take advantage of new options and change, then a new implementation is recommended. Then you can move master data and opening balances using the data import export framework.
