MS CRM dynamic worksheet stores the database connection so that whenever we open dynamic spreadsheet it will retrieve updated information from database.

You can try opening sheet from the same server where database is located.

Refer below URL for more details,

    Thanks,

    Vijay

You need to be connected to the Domain in order to get the data.  The other option is to configure CRM for IFD. Refer below link for more details,

    Thanks,

    Hi Vijay,

Actually just now we upgraded our system from 4.0 to 2011 and it was working perfectly with 4.0 even on irrespective domain. And client will not be ready to go for IFD, please provide some solution.

    Thanks,

    Manish

    Hi Manish,

When dynamic worksheet fails authenticating with database, it will prompt a screen for "SQL server login", there you can enter the credential to connect to database.

You can use the admin credentials  to connect to database to fetch the latest data.

Note : Admin user must be part of organization having sys admin right so you can able to retrieve the information

    Thanks,

    Vijay

Vijay I tried with Admin login and getting the below error:

    Connection failed:

    SQLState: '01000'

    SQL Server Error: 53

    [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen (Connect()).

    Connection failed:

    SQLState: '08001'

    SQL Server Error: 17

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

Check if admin user can connect to the database using SQL credentials, if yes then it should work through dynamic worksheet as well.

Also verify the database location, since you mentioned you have just migrated from 4.0 to 2011.

Also, you can try exporting new Dynamic Worksheet to verify.

    Thanks,

    Vijay

    Q. When I export to a Microsoft Office Excel dynamic worksheet or PivotTable, why do I receive a "Connection failed. Reason: not associated with a trusted SQL connection" error?

    A. This error occurs if you are accessing Microsoft Dynamics CRM from a different domain than the domain that Microsoft Dynamics CRM is installed on.

To export a list of records to a dynamic Microsoft Office Excel worksheet (a file that refreshes data from the Microsoft Dynamics CRM database each time it is opened) or PivotTable, your computer must be on the same domain as the domain of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server. If you are on a different domain, you can export a worksheet static (a file that does not change when data changes in Microsoft Dynamics CRM).

the only thing you can try it's using IFD

    Hello,

I have experienced the same issues as Manish in the above threads with the exception of not upgrading from 4.0. I have experienced the same in CRM 2011 and CRM 2013 installs whos CRM server is on a different domain than that of my local machine.

Is it verified or a known fact then that on-premise installations (where the domains of local machine and CRM server are different ) do not allow the dynamic worksheet functionality?

    Thank you,

    James

Yes. Dynamic Worksheets store connection and work on the principle of being able to fetch the updated data from CRM Server each time the sheet is accessed.

Being a direct SQL connection you need to be able to connect to the SQL server from the machine where you are trying to access the data.

Alternatively, you may want to export static worksheets so they can be referred to even outside of the CRM domain.
