"Company" Field in Outlook Contacts is not syncing with "Company Name" field in Dynamics 365

Posted on by 80

Hi,

I have only just started working with Dynamics 365 so I have very limited knowledge.

I pushed out the Outlook client and I've gone to track a contact in Outlook. This worked and I can see the contact created in Dynamics 365.

However, the "Company" field in outlook has not synced with the "Company Name" field in "Contacts" Dynamics 365.

I've searched far and wide for a fix and spent most of the day researching how to fix this.

I assume I need to set up a relationship to the 2 fields however, I find out how to do that in the Dynamics 365 portal or connecting in via Power Apps?

Can somebody please assist. Many Thanks

    Hi Leah,

I think I may have found the reason why. This link explains it docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/outlook-addin/user-guide/…. "The Company field for an Outlook contact is not automatically added to the parent account of the new Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement contact."

All im trying to resolve is the Company field in Outlook Contacts is syncd with Dynamics 365.

Company Names Blank in Dyn 365.

Surely this is not by design?

    Hi Leah,

Thanks so much for your detailed response. Yes I have triple checked those settings and they are all correct.

It must be said that I cant actually change the specific Parent (Regarding) <-----> Company Name (Regarding) setting. I can for the other settings I tested but not that one.

    Hi Killragtshirts,

Have you set company name field synchronization between customer engagement apps and Outlook.

    1. In the web app, go to Settings (pastedimage1623402025655v2.png) > Advanced Settings.

    2. Select Settings > Administration.

    3. Select System Settings, and then choose the Synchronization tab.

For Unified Interface, select Settings (pastedimage1623402025656v3.png) in the upper-right corner > Advanced Settings > Settings > Administration > System Settings > Synchronization tab.

    4. Under Synchronize items with Outlook or Exchange, select synchronized fields.

    5. For the fields you want to change synchronization, choose the arrows in the Sync Direction column. Each choice will change the direction.

Maybe you can refer following link:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/control-field-synchronization-outlook#set-field-synchronization-between-customer-engagement-apps-and-outlook

Also, you need check same setting in personal options.
