Drawbacks to Running a Bare Bones GP Fat Client

Greetings,
We run GP2013 in a Terminal Server environment and have a pretty massive install (.set = 56 products).  We ran into a serious printer performance issue when printing AR collection letters via TS.  A matching version of the GP client from the TS was installed on the user's local PC which resolved the problem.  Today, I need to install the GP client on the user's new computer.  My normal guidelines for installing GP is to ensure that every install of the client in a GP environment always be exactly the same.  In this case though, the user only uses the local install to print collection letters.  She is required to use the TS for all other activities.

Does anyone see an issue in this case of only installing the bare minimum required for printing statements (core + collections management)?  I'd like to save myself about 4 hours of install time and also think this may further improve the printing performance.

 Thanks in advance!

Jim

    Jonathan,

No, I have not had an chance to look at it yet.  "We" are hesitant to change the status quo over here.  :)

    I am curious though.

I agree with Frank there shouldn't be any problems with this. Have you guys looked into Web Client yet?

I don't see any issue whatsoever with your plan Jim.
