Unable to cancel Deliver Remainder on a Sales order and Purchase Order : The quantity cannot be reduced

I am trying to cancel Back Orders on a Sales Orders and Purchase Orders but i get an error message that says :

The quantity cannot be reduced. The number of stock transactions on order is too low because the quantity or part of it is referenced by an output order or a works order or is marked against other transactions.

How do i cancel the Deliver remainder?

Hi Phyllis,

To cancel the deliver remainder in PO, navigate to menu button General -> Line quantity -> Update Line -> Deliver remainder. There you can enter the quantity that needs to be cancelled. Click on ‘Cancel quantity’ button.

You must get this on Sales and Purchase orders for different reasons. On the sales side, depends a bit on how you do your sales picking, but can you check Picking List Registration - is the item which you are having a problem with on there?

Is it possible on the Purchase side that the item is already Registered?

Hi Guy Terry,

What if Purchase Orderline is already registered? Is it possible to cancel qty in Delivery Remainder or is there any other way to cancel that registered PO Line?

Yes, you can just post the Registration again and it will be reversed (it will have a negative quantity). This can be done from the Purchase order line, and not if the the Product receipt or Invoice has also been posted.
