Why cant you query the "audit entity" with advanced find or reports?

ReportReport

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to create a query/report that monitors changes in the "contract" entity.

I have found the audit function (settings - auditing - audit summary view), but you can only view one record at a time, you cannot export to excel, and you cannot create a new view that includes "ChangedData"

I have found the table in the backend "audit" and written a query to access the information., but we were thinking there must be a reason Microsoft have restricted this entity, and we were wondering why?

THANKS,

The audit functionality tracks data on a separate table and cannot be queried, report against or print.

My suggestion is for you to create an "Audit solution", maybe something that can track changes with a workflow and create "Audit records" of the changes made into a custom entity.

With a custom entity you can report, print, do Dashboards, etc.

This has to do with the fact how CRM stores the data in SQL Server. Because it is a rather generic table, there is no filtered view available which is used for the "export to excel" and "advanced view" functionality. You could write a query against the database (only onpremise) or use the SDK (some methods are available for this) to retrieve the info.

    Hope this helps.
