Visual Studio extension for SSRS development

Dears;

I am trying to develop an SSRS report over the cloud in the development environment. I made all the necessary classes and everything. But when I go to the report design, I am surprised it is an xml page. I made a lot of search and the result saying you have to install extension SQL Server Data Tools. The problem we are not authorized to install any extensions on the development environment since we don't have an admin user. Any clue to be able to edit the report design in the visual designer?

Hi Ahmado,

You will need this extension for SSRS development. Have you tried to install this extension already? You can try using VS 2015 as well for SSRS modifications.

Hello Ahmado,

if you would like to install RDLC Report Designer for VS2015 or VS 2017 on a Microsoft managed DEV VN then please open a support Case.

Another option would be to use a cloud hosted DEV environment on your own subscription where you will have admin access.
