Logging SecurityRoleTaskGrant

Hey there,

I changed the EEUSerRoleChangeLog to have a functioning logging from Users - Roles, now I want Roles - Tasks also to be logged.

I see there is a table SecurityRoleTaskGrant, a system table, and I want to have the 'ModifiedBy' column added. I see there's a SQL query behind and that it retrieves data from some other tables as well, all stored in the model database. I was wondering if I could add a ModifiedBy column in the original tables that the SecurityRoleTaskGrant queries, maybe in SQl server or in AX2012. Because If I then include this data in a SCD Type 2 table I have my logging.

Any suggestions?

Kind regards,

Eric

You should not make any changes in the model database.

Also, remember that you can use the existing Database log functionality to track changes in tables.

    Hi Eric,

It is not possible to add this field. Not by changing a property and adding a field in the model database is not recommended, like Nikolaos mentioned. Suppose you would have a field added in SQL, then you can't manage to get the correct value in it.

I do assume, you want to have a logging on changes in the security roles itself. As the changes are meta data changes in the AOT, there is no control. You can install customizations (model, xpo) which contains security objects. Who did modify the role in this case?

If you want to audit the changes, you could do this using source control systems. There are also some ISV solutions available who do support some analysis on security role changes.
