Dear Experts,

Hope you are all doing good!

I want to integrate the Web application with AX 2009. For that, our client have given Json  Api here. Now they are telling us to consume the service in AX 2009. So How will I achieve this scenario? Need experts help here.

Thanks in advance and Regards,

Vignesh

Can you tell us more about your problem, please?

I'll assume that by "Api", you mean a web service (or a set of web services). Therefore maybe you don't know how to call web services.

Or maybe you don't know how to parse JSON, or something.

    Hi Martin,

    Thanks for your response.

Here, this is the process of our integration. we will do employee creation, vendor creation, customer creation, purchase order in web application. Data should be created in ax 2009 as well.

For testing purpose, our client have given one web service which has employee details. Now i want to insert the employee data in AX 2009 employee tables.

The web service is in JSON format. I don't know to call the web service in ax 2009. Can you please help here?

    Thanks in advance and Regards,

    Vignesh

Oh, so you want to create entities (such as vendors and orders) in AX. Are you aware of the fact that AX 2009 comes with the Application Intergration Framework (AIF) intended for this purpose? Think carefully whether you really want to invest a lot of money developing something that you already have ready and supported by Microsoft.

Maybe you just need a kind of orchestrator that can work with APIs of these two systems (JSON web services of the other system and either SOAP services of file-based integration of AIF).

    Hi Martin,

I aware about AIF in Ax 2009. How will I consume the Json web service by using AIF? Do you have any reference documents?

Can you guide me? I really need your help here.

    Thanks in advance and Regards,

AIF won't consume other web services; it allow you to import data to AX. It will address your requirement "Now i want to insert the employee data in AX 2009 employee tables".

As I said, you can utilize another application working as a bridge between the two applications and their APIs.

Why exactly are you rejecting my proposed solution and you want to implement it the integration layer inside AX?

If you insist on it, I suggest you create a .NET library consuming the service and call the library from AX via .NET Interop. A few of the problems are is that you won't be able to use AIF (although you still can utilize some document classes) and you'll have to deal with the deployment of the library.

    Hi Martin,

Sorry, I didn't see this reply from you. Now only i noticed about this suggestion and I am not rejecting your proposed solution.

Kindly guide me, how to import data from web application into AX 2009 using AIF.

    Once again sincere apologies.

AIF exposes SOAP-based web services based for business documents, such as customers, orders etc.

Depending on your actual situation, you may call these web services directly from your application, or you can put something in between (e.g. a middle-tier service transforming JSON to XML, a queue storing messages when AX isn't available and dealing with performance peaks, and so on).
