Upgrade AX with Enterprise Portal due to SharePoint upgrade?

Using AX 2012 with Enterprise Portal running on a SharePoint 2013 farm we're wondering what is a useful product combination because

SharePoint 2013 => end of life => unsupported
Enterprise Portal is unsupported on SharePoint 2016 and higher

So everyone who is using the product combination AX 2012 R3 & SharePoint 2013 has two possibilities

running Enterprise Portal further on SharePoint 2013 & installing on parallel a SharePoint 2019 server for the rest of the infrastructure
upgrading AX to 365

That's it. Or is there another conceivable scenario? Perhaps just replacing Enterprise Portal to something different?

Hi,

I would personally go for D365FO. Why you want to make that much effort and invest money for something that is at the end of its lifecycle? Yet, there are many factors influencing this decision and you should certainly have a discussion with your colleagues first.

Hi, thanks 4 your answer. There is some custom code in our 2012 that can't be transferred easily to 365. Discussion with my colleagues is already done. And the result of the discussion was the reason to ask the community. ;-)
