Re: I am doing a test installation of Service Pack 3 for Solomon SL Feature Pack 1 on Server 2003 x86 with SQL Server 2005 SP3. When I run the SP3 installer I get 'The Setup is unable to locate any Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0 Feature Pack 1 components to up
Andy,
The Service Pack 3 installation process is not detecting the SL 7.0 FP1 installation. InstallShield checks the registry to determine if SL 7.0 FP1 is installed and it sounds like possible corruption in the registry. If you check Add or Remove Programs- does the Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0 FP1 Client appear? If so are you able to uninstall the SL 7.0client? Go ahead and uninstall the SL client- start and reinstall the SL 7.0 FP1 client. If the client cannot be uninstalled, here are the steps to manally remove the client.
1. Open Start\Run enter Regedit
2. Expand HKey_Local_Machine|Software..delete any folder called Solomon, Solomon Software Inc or Microsoft Business Solutions
3. Expand HKey_Local_Machine|Software|Microsoft... delete the folder: Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0 Client
4. Close the registry editor.
6. Open Windows Explorer
7. Expand the C:\Windows\System32 and delete the SWIMAPI.dll
8. Close Windows Explorer and restart the workstation
11 Log back in as the Domain Admin if Active Directory is in use on the network or the Admin on the box.
12. Then re-install SL 7.0 FP1
13. Then try installing SP3.
For your error 'SQL Server 2005 SP1 is required for this screen and Microsoft Dynamics SL', this is a known bug and a hotfix is available.
KB 970678 is the hot fix document for 7.0SP1, 7.0SP2 and 7.0FP1. When you click the "View and request hotfix downloads" link - it will give you the option to download the hot fix for the version that you need.
