Management Reporter on new server error

Hi All,

There has been a situation where GP and MR have needed to be moved to a new server and problems creating a new data mart are being encountered. I am trying to attach to an existing database (the original server no longer exists). That part seems to have gone well and the Application Service is running. However when it comes to creating a new data mart it fails. I think it is because of references to companies, users and database names in the managementreporter database. I can create a complete new instance of MR without issue however I need the reports from the old managementreporter database. Is it possible to export all reports from an existing managementreporter database and import them into a new managementreporter database?

All help appreciated

David

    Hi Richard,

Thank you for your reply. I wish I was able to export the reports from the old server. Unfortunately that was trashed and all I have are backups of the databases from the old server

There is no need to copy over the datamart database. Simply perform a fresh installation of MR and then go over to the existing Report Designer and export the building blocks and then bring them over a Report Designer pointed to the new server and import the building blocks. Hopefully you do not have too many users to set up and just create them again. There are ways to bring them all over but if there are just a few don't bother.
