Allow access to certain fields on read only entity

Hi,

I have a team who has read only access to the Account entity , however i have created 4 new fields on the account entity, how can i allow this team only create and edit on those new fields but still keep the rest of the account read only?

    Hi..

    You need to use field level security for this..

    Need to create field level security role which has access to create and edit those fields and assign this role to team

    But will the field level security over ride the Account entity security?

    Hi..

    No, it won't override account entity security.. to create / update fields user must need create and write permissions on account entity.. if user has read only access on account entity then user will not able to create / update account record.

    Field security option is without writing code.. there are different options like different forms for account entity, JavaScript to make read only fields, plugin to check user permission and allow to update fields etc, but for these options you need to write code.
