I'm new here and to Dynamics CRM *anticipates groaning* sorry, yes I am a n00b.
I've built a tool for Handover of work from one team to another within the same department, for shift change. Staff will add entries to a 'View' I've tailored. What I need to do now is getting the contents of this 'view' and output said contents into the body of an email, on or as a result of custom button press?
I've been told the custom button thing is do-able, I've been briefly introduced to an email feature that could be told how to fill out a subject line with date specific data etc. It's been mentioned that to get the email to output the data I'd want I'd have to build a report. Made a report, it seems to display the list I'm after just fine and thankfully for my requirements not in pdf format.
What I'm struggling to do is to hook the two or three features up. Possibly a Workflow? It would be good to fire off this email to my team at 3 specific intervals per day which is a different and lower priority goal. Right now as a result of a button press I really just need to pull the data and whack it in to the body of an email presumably in xml, html, or even xlsx format, as long as it displays in the body.
Any solutions gratefully accepted.
